Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner Pencil

I tried Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner for the first time and I must say, for $3.50 this was quite a deal. I am extremely picky about my lip products… Glosses can’t be too thin because they don’t last long. Lipsticks can’t have that odd smell some unfortunately still do. Lip liners can’t be too dry because they tug on the lips and it’s nearly impossible to get the shape you want when they behave that way. So lip products not only have to be somewhere in between mediocre and wonderful, they have to be perfect or darn close. This lip liner is darn close.

At first use, the pencil is perfectly sharpened and ready to go. And many times when using a pencil for the first time, lip or eye, I’ve noticed it needs one or two applications to “get going”, but not this one. It glided very smoothly without being too creamy for a pencil, and I got the perfect shape without having to edit at all.

Rimmel claims this lip liner is transfer-resistant, which it is to some extent but I don’t know if it would last 10 kisses, let alone 1000. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed using it very much. Depending on the look I’m doing, I either just line the lips and slightly come in a bit with the color so that the product I place over it stays all day OR I line the lips then color them in entirely with the liner. I generally do the latter technique when doing a dark lip or a red lip to ensure the color stays on the lips and does not bleed or feather. This time I simply lined my lips and brought it in two to three lines. Since I chose a color very close to my natural color, I was able to apply a similarly colored gloss right over it and called it a day. The liner lasted through 3 touch-ups of gloss, and I’m sure it would have stayed even longer had I worn it with a lipstick between the liner and gloss or even a lipstick alone.

The selection was slim, with about 5 colors, but definitely worth the few dollars. 4 stars.
