Consider changing all light bulbs to compact fluorescent ones (choose products with the "ENERGY STAR" label). These bulbs last much longer than regular ones. For outdoor lights, choose "solar" lights when possible, (I've use solar Xmas lights along our deck rails and they not only look lovely, but are still lit at 2am; some solar lights will stay lit for over 8 hours). Solar lights come in a variety of options; you can even purchase solar "spot lights". Let your imagination soar and create your own ambient lighting for outdoors. Watch for manufacturer's coupons, and use them for additional savings.
