When it comes to diet and nutrition everyone know what do to, yet in North
America our waistlines keep expanding by the decade. So where are we going
wrong? Is it information overload? Confused messages, or just pure laziness?
Actually it is a little bit of all of the above. Human creatures by nature are
resistant to chance. We have been hard wired to believe if its not broke don't
fix it. After all change requires effort and who likes effort. To change or
break a habit takes approximately 30 days and seriously who has the time or
energy.
If you have ever picked up a health magazine you wonder why the average
consumer is so overwhelmed. One product is advertising omega 3-6-9 while the
other contradicts it and promotes an Omega 3? So who is right and who should
you believe? Better yet try to get advice from a natural health care
professional and your answers will change from person to person. We have all
heard the expression ask 100 people and get 101 answers. While there is no one
correct answer when it comes to health there are a couple of points to
consider:
Trust - the person you have chosen to work with. If you don't connect with your
practitioner, find one that you do.
Believe - in yourself that you can make the changes and you will succeed.
Set Goals - that are realistic and achievable. Don't set yourself up for
failure by turning your life upside down.
Baby Steps - change your mode of thinking. Remove the word DIET from your
vocabulary and replace it with lifestyle. Make a commitment to yourself to
change a few things each week.
Motivate - find yourself a cheerleader. Let a professional help clear up the
confusion and help get you on the road to health. There are a wealth of
nutritionists, personal trainers and coaches out there. Ask around for
referrals.
When it comes to your health, you are in the driver's seat. If you don't like
what you hear, go for a second opinion.
There are a lot of options available to us, whether mainstream of alternative,
so why not take advantage of them and live your life to the fullest.
